Whimsical

Cubbiebear

Mixed Media- Acrylic, Oil, Pencil, Ink

The art class goal: paint a whimsical animal.  I was told to distort the animal somewhat.  So I painted a bear... sort of a bear anyway.

Daydreaming Dog

Xena's Fantasy

Acrylic, Collage, Ink, Oil on Canvas

My grand dog Xena is a giant English Mastiff.  She looks ferocious but is as gentle as a fairy.  She loves her people and we love her.

Somewhere Tropical

Tranquility Waiting

Acrylic on Canvas

I saw a friend's tropical photo on Facebook.  I got her permission to paint it, but then made many changes as I painted.  I doubt she will even recognize it.

For Cat Lovers

Mine!

Acrylic on Canvas

This work is the result of a class assignment to pick a magazine photo, copy and study it in gray scale, then paint my version of it.  The original was a cat food advertisement!

Wanderer?

I was experimenting with yarn, ribbon, gauze and acrylic paint. It turned into a man.  So far I call this mysterious man "Wanderer".  Can you think of a better name for him or the mixed media work?

Visual Repetition

Paseo Bridge in Kansas City, Missouri

Crossing the bridge I marveled at the design.  Who says repetition is boring?  Have you ever noticed how babies stare at window blinds?   Our brains are drawn to visual repetition.  It is geometric art.

Abstract Experience

When I create an abstract with paint, or using mixed media or digital art... the experience is freeing.  I like to surprise myself with the outcome. This is today's digital abstract.
